Thrift Store Identities
Thrift Store Identities is a part of the Flaneur Exploration aimed particularly at examining cultural identity by sifting through the castoff magazines, postcards, and nicknacks that accumulate at thrift stores, antique malls, and junk shops. In these spaces I search for source materials that illuminate my own notions of identity and possibly reveals a side of our cultural history. These spaces are for me charged with the pyschogeography that is carried in the history of the objects sold. I see these as vernacular museums for things we deem valuable, we long to get rid of, or can't let go from our life. I turn the items I collect into the sources for these collaged paintings.
